President Muhammadu Buhari will join dozens of world political leaders and a host of other key players, including Bill Gates, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Bloomberg at “One Planet” climate summit in Paris on Tuesday hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France.

The meeting, on the two year anniversary of the day that the U.N.’s landmark Paris global warming deal was agreed to, will re-energize support for it, including by focusing on how public and private finance can innovate to accelerate the battle against climate change.

The Paris deal came after many years of painstaking negotiations and more than 190 countries agreeing in a welcome shot in the arm for attempts to tackle global warming and, crucially, a new post-Kyoto framework was put in place.

The President Buhari, who will be accompanied by the governors of Adamawa, Kano and Ondo States, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Environment. He will return to Abuja on Thursday.

The summit is “Climate Change Financing,” is jointly organized by the United Nations, the World Bank Group, and the French Government in partnership with non-governmental organisations.
