Femi Kuti Beats Kenny G’s 45 Minutes 37 Seconds On Saxophone

Femi Kuti, Afrobeat icon and the son Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti was inches closed to breaking the world record for the longest note on a saxophone which stood at 46 minutes 38 seconds.

Femi Kuti was able to break the legendary saxophonist, Kenny G’s record of 45 minutes 37 seconds which was once a world record. In 1997, Kenny G set a Guinness World Record for using circular breathing to sustain an E-Flat on a saxophone.

Contemporary jazz player, Vann Burchfield set the new world record for holding one note for 47 minutes 55 seconds in February 2000. Burchfield’s time still stand as the record though the category has been cancelled by the Guinness World Record.
