0
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced the commencement a nationwide strike, beginning from today.
The decision to begin the strike was reached after the doctors during their National Executive Council  (NEC) meeting rejected an offer presented by government in an attempt to persuade them to suspend the strike action.
According to a statement by NARD president, Dr Onyebueze John, the doctors will proceed on the strike until all items in her demand list for strike action are resolved by Government.
The statement reads, “Rising from our NEC meeting, which started by 7pm yesterday and ended 3am today.
NARD has resolved to reject the promissory offer from Government, and proceed on total and indefinite strike action until all items in her demand list for strike action are resolved by Government.”
The doctors are embarking on a nationwide strike as a result of government’s failure to pay salary shortfall of 2016 and January to May 2017 and failure to rectify the salary shortfall from August 2017, as well as  Failure to circularize House Officers’ entry point, among others.
