IT was a something of a good Friday for ace filmmaker Tunde Kelani last week as he was honoured with the award of ‘The Custodian of Yoruba Culture’ at a colourful event held at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, in Ile-Ife Osun State. The award came from the Yoruba Redemption Foundation who partnered the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM).

Fondly called ‘TK’ by younger colleagues, congratulatory message has continued to pour in for the cinematographer, producer, director and culture activist who is devoted to the promotion and preservation of the Yoruba culture and tradition. For many, the award is well deserved because Tunde Kelani has through his works contributed immensely in documenting the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba race. An elated Tunde Kelani who is working on the cinema release of his latest work Dazzling Mirage told CelebrityExtra that he was very glad at the honour. “I am glad and extremely excited,’’ he said adding: ‘it shows that people are watching and are taking note of my works and interest in the Yoruba culture and tradition. I find this encouraging and it will only spur us at Mainframe Production to continue to do more because like our mission statement, we will not only produce meaningful films, but we will produce works that will further document the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba language and culture’’.

Chidi Ihezie Lands A Range Rover Jeep As Birthday Present

If you called notable Nollywood actress Chidi Ihezie Okafor all through the third week of July 2014 and she did not pick up your call or even remember to return the call, please don’t be offended. It may be the excitement of the lavish birthday party she had on Sunday July 20. The humble and friendly actress was a year older on that day and so her husband and father of her children conspired with a few of her friends to stage a surprise party for her. Ask us what Chidi got as a surprise birthday gift from her hubby? A Range Rover Sports!

And ‘upon on top of that’ (apologies Chief Zebrudaya) the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria Chief Ibinabo Fiberisima who was away in the UK on holidays cut short her trip to honour the invitation to the surprise party. CelebrityExtra gathered that Chidi rolled on the floor when she sighted the AGN President and as a source squealed she ‘over rolled’ when she was presented with keys to the car. Did I hear anyone say they want a share of the birthday largesse? Well just be prepared to roll whenever Chidi drives past you.
