Femi Kuti Goes Memory Lane on The Truth with Olisa Adibua

Popularly called the “Crown Prince” of Afrobeat Music after releasing his first solo effort (No Cause For Alarm) in 1989, Femi Kuti was born Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti on June 12, 1962 in London UK. He grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, where, at 15, he started playing saxophone in his father’s band, Egypt 80. In 1986 he formed his own band, the Positive Force. His first record was released in 1995 by Tabu/Motown, followed four years later by Shoki Shoki (MCA), which garnered widespread critical acclaim.

In this interesting interview with popular Nigerian entertain guru, Olisa Adibua, Femi Kuti discussed his life, personality, and his relationship with the Legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti. He also touched on what Fela wanted from him as a growing child, what he wanted for himself, the clashes, the confusions and how he was able to mould his own career from being Fela’s son.
