25 Killed In Fresh Herdsmen Attack In Plateau

About 25 people are feared killed following a Monday night attack on Zir-Shi Maiyanga village in Kwall district of Bassa local government area of Plateau State by people suspected to be herdsmen.

Daily Trust reports that Zir-Shi Maiyanga, a remote village said to be about 11 kilometres away from the main road was attacked between 10pm and 11pm by gunmen locals allege were herders.
Operation Safe Haven Media and Information Officer Major Adam Umar said by the time the task force personnel arrived the village, the attackers had fled adding that they had recovered seven corpses while another person had died in the hospital.
However, Activist Malison Davidson, a local from the area said following this morning’s continued search, additional corpses have been recovered making the figure of the dead 25. Davidson said more persons were still missing adding that, “the village is very remote and by the time security agents arrived, the attackers had fled.”
