Boko Haram Keeps One Million Children Out Of School-UNICEF

0

The United Nations Children’s Fund, Unicef says that attacks by the Islamic militant group Boko Haram in Nigeria and neighbouring countries have forced more than a million children out of school.

The organization says the conflict has delivered a “huge blow” to education in the region and it fears children will drop out of school altogether.

Unicef says hundreds of schools have been attacked, looted or set on fire since the start of this conflict. In Nigeria alone Islamist militants have killed around 600 teachers.

In neighbouring Cameroon just a single school out of more than a hundred closed last year has been reopened.
