The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced testing and linkage of HIV/AIDS positive clients to treatment, care and support services across the country.
The Federal Government introduced the programme in a bid to ensure adequate prevention of HIV in Local Governments across Nigeria.
Speaking during the exercise on Wednesday, the Senior Programme Officer of the National Agency for the Control of Aids, Martins Ojo, said that the aim of the programme was to carry out a free medical mission and to increase access to HIV counseling and treatment.
In Ikole Ekiti community, both young men and women seated patiently to be tested and treated one after the other. It was a special exercise aimed at promoting community-level awareness of HIV/AIDS, providing preventive messages to members of the public.
The beneficiaries of the programme commended the Federal Government for the initiative.
