The Nigerian grandad of the English child seen vowing to kill Westerners on an IS [Daesh] murder video has blasted the boy’s mum for letting him take part in the sick stunt.
Sunday Dare begged daughter Grace, who changed her name to Khadijah after converting to Islam and fleeing to Syria in 2012, to bring the youngster home from the war-torn country. And he insisted the boy, called Isa and believed to be around five years old, is unhappy living with the IS thugs.
Sunday, who also uses the name Henry, said he recognized the lad the moment he saw him at the end of a video in which British IS suspect Siddhartha Dhar, dubbed Jihadi John II, ordered the execution of five men accused of being British spies. Little Isa declares: “We will kill kuffar (non-believers).”
Sunday said: “It’s propaganda. They are just using a small boy. He doesn’t know anything, he’s a small boy. They are just using him as a shield. “It’s my grandson. I can’t disown him. I know him very well.”
Speaking about 24-year-old Khadijah, who left home in Deptford, South East London with Isa and married a Swedish IS fighter, Sunday said he has spoken to his daughter recently. But he added: “I keep on ignoring her calls because she has brought shame on to our family and to herself. “My grandson doesn’t like it over there. I don’t trust her. “I don’t want to be beheaded if I visit her over there.”
Asked what should happen to Khadijah, who has another son called Abdur Rahman said to be four, if she returns, he replied: “Let her face the music first.”
Khadijah’s mum Oyenike refused to comment on the video tonight. But one neighbour said: “She is absolutely shocked by everything that has happened with her daughter and completely beside herself with worry. “No doubt she will be even more concerned if her grandchildren are being put in danger.”
Sunday said his daughter told him she was going to study in Egypt but later rang him from IS controlled Syria. She had allegedly been brainwashed by radicals at an Islamic centre attended by the vile killers of soldier Lee Rigby.
Within days of landing in the country, Khadijah had wed an IS militant calling himself Abu Bakr and appeared with him in twisted IS recruitment videos. She sparked outrage in July 2014 by posting a picture of an innocent Isa, whose name means Jesus in Arabic, holding an AK47 assault rifle.
Using the alias Muhajirah fi Sham, she also vowed on Twitter to become the first woman to behead a US or British prisoner.
During an online documentary Khadijah made a warped defense of her decision to join the gang. Wearing a full burka and wielding an AK47 before firing off rounds, she boasted: “I’m not oppressed. “If I was oppressed I wouldn’t be a Muslim right now. If I thought Islam was an oppressive religion I would have left Islam.
“Islam has made me free.” Showing off the derelict home she shared with her husband in Aleppo, Khadijah said of the militant: “Praise to God, I couldn’t find anyone in the UK, who was willing to just sacrifice their life in this world for the life in the hereafter.” Her husband was killed fighting for Islamic State in Syria. But she has since gone on to become a poster girl for the group’s recruitment.
After her daughter fled to Syria, Oyenike said: “I want her back in my life. She is the only child that I have and the devil took her away. She loved church. She had a Bible, she read the Bible. “She would just sit there and pray and pray and pray.
“When she became Muslim, I would get these phone calls saying, ‘Can I speak to Khadijah?’ “I said to her, what’s that about? She says, ‘Oh, that’s my name.’ “It was only the mosque people who called her Khadijah. I don’t call her that. I still call her our Grace.” Sunday and Oyenike are Nigerian immigrants.
Their daughter, believed to have been born in Britain, was brought up a Catholic. But soon after attending college she abandoned her Christian upbringing and comfortable family life in the capital for the killing fields of Syria.
Khadijah is understood to have listened to sermons at the Lewisham Islamic Centre not far from her home for at least a year before she fled abroad. The centre was also attended by Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, the barbaric pair who ran down and attempted to behead Lee Rigby as he made his way back to his barracks in nearby Woolwich.
The pair have since been jailed over the horrific murder which shocked the nation.
