President Mohammadu is reported to be angry over the news of latest cruel attacks on a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, denoting Boko Haram, th group that carried out dastardly act, as a group of mindless and godless people. He was reacting to the early morning attacks which claimed over 20 lives.
Buhari’s reaction was expressed in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
Mallam Garna Shehu on Wednesday, said the president was “dismayed”. The president however reiterated the resolve of his government to protect the country and the people.
The Statement read thus:
The statement read, “I am dismayed by the news of a bomb attack on innocent worshipers in a mosque in Maiduguri this morning.
“This attack is yet another sign that Boko Haram is a mindless and godless group that in no way represents true Islam.
“I sympathise with all who lost family and loved ones in the attack, and with the government and people of Borno State.
“Nigerians should please not let down their guard. Vigilance should continue to be a priority, especially in public places.
“The government remains resolute in its commitment to securing Nigeria from terrorism and violence.”
In another development, Garba Shehu said that the Federal Government will continue to welcome constructive criticism of its policies, budget and expenditure. Shehu said in a statement in Abuja that such criticism would assist the government in fulfilling its promises to Nigerians, adding that “it is the only way the change promised the country will have a meaning’’.
