The 21st century will see the third automobile revolution! During the next edition of the Paris Motor Show, it won’t be just about anticipating its outskirts but about actually experiencing the new area of auto-mobilities.
A “revolution” of mobility and a French invention of the end of the 19th century, automobiles were at first for the exclusive use of Society’s wealthiest members. It quickly triggered entrepreneurial callings and as technological performances kept transforming it, a second revolution was already in motion.
1910: by becoming a popular consumption object, the automobile became a symbol of social progress and individual freedom. It changed everything: traveling, roads, cities, territories, industries… Society as a whole!
Today, 130 years after its creation, a third revolution is under way! While simultaneously cohabitating with other forms of mobility, now connected, the automobile has never offered so many features in terms of safety, interactivity but also and foremost in terms of opportunities and freedom.
The 2016 edition of the Paris Motor Show will demonstrate how much automobiles have already entered a third era:
– Manufacturers will not only announce world premieres, some will also unveil their 5 year launch plans;
– Alternative energies will not be the only subject discussed; there will also be talks about a new market: the market of second-hand electric vehicles;
– Autonomous driving will no longer be the object of imagination; visitors will be able to test it on the streets of Paris;
– Visitors will not only see technological demos, but there will also be discussions about the use of new shared time, new freedom made possible thanks to connected vehicles;
– The different means of transport will not be set against each other, the French people’s needs for (auto)-mobility solutions will be heard;
– Not only will cars be bought, mobility services will be consumed;
– There will not only be campaigning politicians, the Show will welcome
1.250.000 visitors in search for answers concerning their needs and their dreams of new mobility solutions.
As the World as they know it tends to disappear and as a new one is appearing, the French people are already looking at the World of automobiles in a different way (Opinion Way survey). Different from the one described by some influential microcosms: more nuanced and realistic but also more modern. They no longer want a single model but real automobile solutions.
The Paris Motor Show is continuously reinventing and modernizing itself in order to always anticipate the evolutions of the field in the broadest sense of the word. The essentials are part of the Institution; the new releases feed the legend.
Nearly 200 makes to this day, extending yo Tesla, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, Oscaro… and first time attendees like Plastic Omnium, Voitures Noires and Blabla Car. 18 countries will be present at the Paris Motor Show to showcase on 123 567 m2 in 8 pavilions. Many new international, European and French releases are scheduled to be unveiled at this edition of the Paris Motor Show.
Welcome to the new world of auto-motilities! Where one does not want to oppose automobiles to other means of transport but wants to choose what best suits him or her, wants to use one solution or the other according to his or her desires, needs but also dreams. In short, to keep the best of both worlds!
The Paris Motor Show is a 16 day festival. From October 1 to October 16, experiences multiply and events flourish. The 2016 edition of the Show will enjoy a full schedule of events.

The exhibition “L’Automobile fait son Cinéma”
From the 404 Limousine of L’Ecume des Jours to the 2 CV from the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only, from the Renault Nervastella featured in Jour de Fête (“The Big Day”) starring Jacques Tati, to the Alpine Renault, M65 from Michel Vaillant’s Adventures… over 45 exceptional vehicles will be presented in Hall 8.
