Nigerians Should Take Advantage Of The Price War That Opens In Skies For Paris To New York Flights

0

If you are a Nigerian travelling to New York, I will suggest you go through Paris to reduce greatly your flight cost as price war is ongoing on the Paris-New York route especially if you want to go with any of the supposed premium airlines from Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt and make connection to New York in Paris.

The price war spells good news in the skies over the Atlantic for anyone going to New York from Paris. Earlier this year budget airline Norwegian made headlines when it announced flights from Paris CDG to New York for €179 one way.

But now Icelandic airways Wow Air, perhaps aiming to capitalize on the all the love shown to the nation’s football team in recent weeks, is to offer tickets for €129 one-way.

Though, travellers will have to wait a while as the low cost tickets are only for flights from November on-wards but reservations are open.

Granted the tickets do come with some extra costs and inconveniences. For a start passengers will have to be prepared for a 90 minute stop-over in Reykjavik, plus a €55 charge to check-in luggage and a charge of between €6 and €40 for choosing a seat.

The planes used to fly passengers to the Big Apple will be the airline’s new Airbus 321 aircraft.

However given that Norwegian airlines state that on their flights from Paris to New York passengers can only take hand luggage weighing less than 10kg and must pay extra for meals during the eight hour flight, Wow air’s deal remains the lowest out there on the market.

Wow Air had already successfully opened up new routes from Paris to Montreal and Toronto and last month to San Francisco and Los Angeles.

For Nigerians going to New York or near by cities instead of paying exorbitant sum due to the prevailing economic situation in the country, you can break the journey and go through Paris if you have Schengen visa. Even with the cost on check-in-luggage, you will still save a lot.

New York has always been a popular destination for French travellers. In a recent survey entitled “Where will the French go to this summer”, the US city was placed second in the rankings behind Bangkok and ahead of Bali, Montreal and Athens.

Why spend over N550k on your trip to New York when you can do it for around N300k with so much fun? Think about it.
