President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe yesterday in Lagos praised the vision and investment drive of Alhaji Aliko Dangote across the continent, describing him as him as the ‘transformer of Africa economy’.

President Gnassingbe said this while touring Dangote Refinery project in Lagos in the company of the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Minister of Trade, Investment & Industry, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah and Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.2

President Gnassingbe said Dangote is a worthy son of Africa who has chosen to buoy the economic activities of the continent with his investments. “Aliko Dangote is our pride in Africa and his aggressive investment drive towards developing the economies of the continent should be lauded,” he said.

Governor Ambode while welcoming the President to Lagos and the Dangote Refinery and Fertilizer projects, said the projects would change the face of both Lagos State and Nigeria, when completed.

Ambode said the refinery eloquently attests to the fact that there is a positive investment climate in Lagos which has resulted in massive investor confidence, confirmation that Lagos is a prime investment destination.  “This investment (Dangote Refinery) is one of the biggest in Africa today and will have a huge impact on the economy of not only Nigeria but the whole of West African region.

“This refinery, when completed, will be the largest single line refinery anywhere in the world refining 650,000 barrels of crude oil daily. “Apart from creating jobs, this refinery will contribute immensely to solving the fuel supply challenge in the West African region.”
