0

A group comprising of ordinary Nigerians called the movement for the Reoccupation of the National Assembly and the Realization of the Nigerian Dream has resolved to organize a protest at the National Assembly on Monday 10 October, 2016.

The group said it is mobilization across all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The Occupy National Assembly movement is demanding the followings from the National Assembly and other arms of the government:

  • Elimination of the Immunity Clause for all Executive Public Officials in Government with Regards to Criminal Matters and the Elimination of Security votes to all state governors. Security votes have become a conduit pipe for perpetual looting in Nigeria.
  • Complete Elimination of Constituency Projects by members of the NASS which is susceptible to fraud and corrupt practices.
  • The Immediate opening up of the Budget of the National Assembly to the Nigeria People.#OPENNASS is an Immediate National Priority. We will demand that the budget of the NASS in the last 16 years be opened up for review and examination by the people.
  • The Restructuring and Downward Review of the Salaries and all related Benefits of the National Assembly Members. We are also asking that all Legislative Business must become Part-Time.
  • Legislation making corruption in public office and the civil service punishable by death.
  • Repeal of the Provision that Created the Joint Account between States and Local Governments as Local Governments must run separate accounts without interference from state governments.
  • All arms of Government must immediately link up with the TSA.
  • A unicameral legislative house with the scrapping of the Senate.
  • Prioritization of civil servants salary, Police reform, etc.

The group is calling on Nigerians to visit www.occupy.org.ng to register
