The State Security Service have arrested two Supreme Court judges and five others over bastardization of judicial interpretations.
The official quarters of Walter Onoghen, a possible next Chief Justice of Nigeria going by recent recommendation to President Muhammadu Buhari and Sylvester Ngwuta also of the Supreme Court were besieged by the SSS for several hours overnight.
The clamp down on the judges began in in Gombe State where the SSS arrested Muazu Pindigi who served on the elections tribunal in Rivers State, it continued in Abuja at the home Nnamdi Dimgba and Adeniyi Ademola, both of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, in their official residences located inside Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.
Three judges from Sokoto, Bauchi and Kano were also taken into custody for allegedly collecting bribes, according to a top source involved in the operation.
The arrest of the judges is not unconnected with the efforts of the government to cleanse the judiciary by removing corrupt judges.
