The Triumph of Trumpism.

0

Republican’s Donald Trump against all odds and predictions is elected the next President of the United States, the 45th defeating the much favoured Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party.

Trump was vilified and lambasted before the election but he never wavered. He was even abandoned by his own party and he took on the media. When he announced his candidacy, many laughed and called him a joker, yet he stunned the league aspirants to become the Republican nominee. Donald Trump adopted anger, hatred, and racism as a political platform reflecting the prevailing mood of the American mood.

Another segment of the popular pro-Trump base supports him because he represents their aspirations and promises to revive them, including their aspirations for a return to the original capitalism: the capitalism that gives citizens opportunities not the capitalism that has been hijacked by major corporations. A revolution, because America is angry against the exploitation by the government and the corporations of capitalism, but is not ready for socialism, Trump offered a panacea to make America great again.

Donald is a figure known for his acumen, openness, forthrightness, talent for negotiations, and deal-making abilities, a successful businessman. Ordinary Americans are impressed by him because he is a rich, successful man who marries supermodels. Many ordinary Americans wish they were like the Donald, smiling, boastful, and happy about his success.

The tactic he has chosen is challenging and tackling just about anyone. He made his ego a successful marketing ploy. He used his startling stances against Muslims, Mexicans, women, and African Americans as a shock publicity tactic. He injected hope among the frustrated, in a way that left no room for logic, as his followers in their enthusiasm forgot to ask about the difference between fantastic promises and empty rhetoric.

Trump promised to put America first; this resonated greatly with the American populace. He said he will renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement- NAFTA, to restructure North Atlantic Treaty Organization –NATO, he supported Brexit, vociferous against immigration and Refugee from Syria, Afghanistan, slams China, praises Russia and embraces Vladimir Putin, repeals Obamacare, cancel the Iran Nuclear Deal and the Paris Climate Accord. He said the US will stop playing father-figure to the world, calling on Germany, Saudi Arabia, Japan and other countries to step to the plate concerning their financial commitment.

Trump condemnation of the US policy in the Middle East was also on point. Trump’s foreign policy will seem to close the book on Barack Obama’s appeasement, and that the US will enter a phase that Americans and their establishment want to be more assertive and aggressive against foes and opponents.

The Trump phenomena have demonstrated that average Americans have lost trust in Washington, and want to send out a clear message that they are angry and want to rebel against the status quo and against the performance of the politicians and the government in the US capital.

The Bushes and the Clintons were voted down because Americans are averse to dynasties that might come to believe they are entitled to own the US presidency.

Above all, what inflamed the Trump phenomena the most is his use of the social media and the way he manipulated the press. Good or bad, controversial or not, every Trump’s statements, moves or missteps were well captured and chronicled. He had the support of the ordinary Americans against Hillary Clinton who was supported by the corporations and celebrities.

Congratulations to Donald J. Trump, the next President of the United States of America.
