Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Matters has said that any Nigerian be it in Turkey or any where in the world who ran afoul of the law must face the consequences.
She said this yesterday when the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Hakan Cakil, paid her a courtesy visit at her office at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja.
“Any Nigerian in Diaspora who commits crime, whether in Turkey or anywhere should face the penalty.”
Hon Dabiri restated that, Nigeria will continue to strengthen the trade and diplomatic ties between it and Turkey. She added that the government is doing everything to ensure that its nationals in Turkey and other parts of the world are law abiding.
“Thank God, Nigerians in Turkey are responsible professionals. We will not tolerate criminality.”
Speaking earlier on the purpose of his visit, Ambassador Cakil said; “My aim of coming here is to improve the Turkish-Nigeria relation in all its ramifications. Nigeria is a very strategic partner of Turkey in Sub-Saharan Africa. When the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, visited Nigeria in March this year, so many bilateral and trade agreements were signed. Nigeria is Turkey’s largest trading partner in Sub-Saharan Africa, since 2014.”
