The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has defeated his arch-rivals, Eyitayo Jegede of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), to be elected the next governor of Ondo State.
According to the final results released by INEC, Mr. Akeredolu scored 244, 842 votes in the election. In distance second place is Jegede of PDP with 150,380 votes while Mr. Oke of AD came in third with 126, 889 votes.
Akeredolu will take over from Governor Olusegun Mimiko who has served two terms as governor of the state
