President Muhammadu Buhari made a surprise appearance at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja today. The NEC is normally chaired by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
The President went round to shake the hands of all the governors present before taking his seat.
Osinbajo had said that the NEC had been abridged in order to receive the President. He then called on the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, to speak on behalf of the governors.
It was at this point that journalists were ordered to leave the hall.
