The Senate has postponed the presentation of of the report on the N7.06 trillion 2017 Appropriation Bill to Tuesday.
This was disclosed by the Senate leader, Ahmed Lawan. He said the postponement was to enable both chamber of the National Assembly to harmonize the versions of the report.
He said, “I have also equally been informed that by the grace of God, definitely, the Budget 2017 will be laid on Tuesday.
“Mr President, distinguished colleagues, as I speak, Senate Committee on Appropriations is currently meeting with that of the House of Representatives on the 2017 budget,” he maintained.
Responding, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu assured Nigeria that the lawmakers were aware of the expiration of 2016 for tomorrow.
He added that 2017 budget would be passed without hiccups, noting that Nigerians should be patient.
It was reported that the National Assembly increased its budget in the Appropriation Bill to N150 billion from the initial proposal of N120 billion.
