The repatriation of Nigerians from Libya continued yesterday with the return 138 from the crisis risen country.
The voluntary returnees was facilitated with the help of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
They were brought back on a flight, with Registration No 5ADM which touched down at the Cargo wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport around 8:05p.m.
The Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, South-West, Mr. Suleiman Yakubu, said four out of the returnees were critically ill and needed urgent medical attention.
Yakubu, who represented the Director General of NEMA, Mr. Mustapha Maihaja, said the 138 people were made up of 65 female adults, two teenage girls and two female infants; 64 male adults, two teenage boys and three male infants.
“The 138 returnees were brought back to Nigeria on the expression of interest to return to the country through the assistance of IOM,” he said.
He implored the returnees to forward to a bright future as the government is working round the clock put various initiatives in place, to tackle challenges facing the country.
“Nigeria is already on the right track to its lost glory with efforts to create more job opportunities in various fields of endeavours,” he said.
With the help of the IOM, Nigerians have been returning from Libya in droves. In September, 121 Nigerians repatriated from Libya of which two are pregnant.
