15 people have been killed and 53 injured as two female suicide bombers detonated their improvised explosive devices (IED) in Biu local government, Borno State on Saturday.
The first of the bombers denoted her IED strapped on her body within Biu main market, while the other detonated hers outside the market square.
Victor Isuku, the State’s Police Public Relation Officer confirmed the incident to newsmen.
“So far, a total of 13 persons excluding the two suicide bombers, have been confirmed killed in the two explosions. While 53 others sustained various degrees of injuries.”
“The Corpses and the injured persons have been evacuated to General Hospital Biu. Meanwhile, normalcy has been restored and the area rendered safe.” Victor statement concluded.
However, witness account gave the number of the dead to be 19.
