Hollywood’s biggest night, the 90th annual Academy Awards ceremony took place yesterday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. It was a glorious night for fantasy drama ‘The Shape of Water’ which won four awards including the Best Picture and Best Director for Guillermo del Toro.
African-American Jordan Peele’s horror satire “Get Out” won the Best Original Screenplay category. Frances McDormand won her second Oscar as she won the Best Actress for her role in the movie ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri’.
Gary Oldman accepts Best Actor for ‘Darkest Hour
Gary Oldman, who won Best Actor for his performance as Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour,” and Allison Janney who took home the Best Supporting Actress award for “I, Tonya.” Best Supporting Actor win for Sam Rockwell for his role in ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri’.
Writer-director James Ivory, became the oldest Oscar winner at the age of 89 for his screenplay adaptation of Andre Aciman’s novel “Call Me by Your Name.” “Coco,” Disney/Pixar’s Mexican-set fantasy animated film, won Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Remember Me.”
Kobe Byrant also become an Oscar winner as his film ‘Dear Basketball’ won the Best Animated Short category
