If you think the publication of the looters’ list by the federal government has no implication, then you need to speak with High Chief Raymond Dokpesi who had just had his US visa revoked for being on the list.
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and Chairman of Daar Communications owners of AIT and Ray Power made this known in a suit he filed against the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who released the looters’ list.
Dokpesi sued Mohammed for N5 billion damages. In the suit filed on Monday before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Dokpesi said the N5 billion is for the alleged defamation of his character by Mohammed.
He said Mohammed, alongside other defendants, allegedly sent his name as a looter to the United States Embassy, which in turn notified him that his visa had been revoked.
The US Embassy, he said, told him it was because his name was among a looters list submitted to it by the Federal Government.
Dokpesi is seeking the order of the court that the retraction and apology to him by the Federal Government be published on all media platforms – social, print and electronics. He is also praying for an order compelling the defendants, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to publish a full retraction of the defamatory publication and to apologise to him.
