The social media is buzzed with insinuations and allegations that the Former Minister of Education and Mrs ‘Due Process’ is having an affair with her Ex-boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo. This accusation emanated from a picture taking at Obasanjo’s book launch days where the Ex-President was caught in a warm embrace with Mrs Ezekwesili. A group by the ‘Hope For Nigeria’ is at the fore-front of this accusation.
The group wrote on its Facebook page: “This is Dr. Oby Ezekwesili the #BringBackOurGirls crusader with former President Obasanjo at his book launch.” “Was it that Ezekwesili forgot that she was in a public place and a married woman? She threw caution to the wind. Anyway, we saw her sticking out her finger in excitement, while the ‘Chemistry’ lasted.” “What manner of role model will this woman be to young Nigerian girls who look up to her?”
In response to the allegations, Mrs. Ezekwesili accused the group of having impure hearts. She said via Twitter: “My former boss – President Obasanjo – gave me a boisterous greeting at his event and the impure in heart now turn it to lurid tales.” “Restoring family values will also help take us back to a decent society. It is clear that many among us have lost our pure hearts,” she said.
The controversial photo was taken during the launch of Obasanjo’s autobiography, titled “My Watch”, on December 9. To a discerning and pragmatic mind, there’s nothing to this picture. We should stop playing politics with people’s life and integrity. To accuse the Obasanjo and Ezekwesili of having an affair and be justified, we needed more than a photograph of embrace at a public function.
