Buhari’s Election Victory An Act Of God – Tompolo

0

Government Ekpemupolo, popularly referred to as Tompolo, was reported to have described the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari at the March 28 presidential election as an act of God.

Being one of the ex-militants who promised to make the country ungovernable if President Goodluck Jonathan doe not win re-election, Tompolo is now appealing for calm.

“I believe that nothing can happen if God does not approve of it,” Tompolo said in a statement issued on his behalf by Paul Bebenimibo, his spokesman.

“I want to appeal to all our people to be orderly, calm and embrace peace. The will of the people is sacrosanct and the existing peace be maintained.

“Peace is a prerequisite for national development. People should remain calm also during the governorship election.”

Mujahid Asari Dokubo, another ex-militant, had initially called for a return to the creeks, accusing the Yoruba and Hausa of working against the interest of the Niger Delta and Biafra.

“The victory of Muhammadu Buhari is a historical reminder that we are a conquered people who are mere appendages existing at the pleasure of the supremacist and the regional overlords,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

“We remain a people separated by our ideologies and interests, we are not integrated nor reconciled.

“The conditions that advanced the need to embrace the creeks have been sadly re-energised; it is clear that a vicious government who may maim and murder the voice of the so-called minorities may have just been birthed.”
