The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday interrogated former minister of interior, Patrick Abba Moro for hours, over his role in the botched and ill-fated immigration recruitment exercise of March 15, 2014.

The Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment led to the death of 19 job seekers across the country. According to the EFCC spokesperson who confirmed the visit of the Benue State politician to the EFCC headquarters, the former minister was invited to discuss his role in the immigration recruitment, where some young Nigerians lost their lives.

Abba Moro was said to have arrived at the commission at about 10am where he was grilled by the EFCC operatives. He was letter released on administrative bail at about 6pm and directed to report at the commisssion tomorrow

The interrogation was centred around the circumstances leading to the death of about 19 applicants in various recruitment centres across the country, during a botched exercise that raised over N500million for the ministry, which was never returned to applicants even after the cancellation of the exercise.

The former comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service , David Parradang, had also been quizzed by the EFCC over alleged corruption in the handling of the exercise. At the time of the botched exercise, several Nigerians demanded the resignation or dismissal of Moro and Parradang, as well as their criminal prosecution for involuntary homicide.
