Abdullahi Dikko, Ex-Custom Chief Returned N1 Billion-EFCC

0

This week can aptly be termed the week of atonement as some of those who have stolen our commonwealth are making refund. The return of N1 billion by the former Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde, returned N1bn to the Federal Government is the biggest so far.

This week alone, Musiliu Obanikoro, the former Minister of State for Defence refunded N100m with an undertaking to further retund N480m, the former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore returned to the government’s coffers N350m, and now Dikko with N1 billion!

Is there anyone out there who still believe there’s no corruption in Nigerian government or that Buhari’s administration anti-graft war is an exercise in futility? The Jonathan’s administration can rightly be said to have elevated impunity and graft in government to an unprecedented height. It was looting galore!

Dikko, headed the NCS between August 2009 and August 2015, was reportedly arrested by the EFCC in June over alleged diversion of N40bn from the agency’s coffers.

He was said to have been released due to his poor health and was expected to return more money.

The commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, who gave the confirmation  on Saturday, also confirmed the seizure of a property belonging to the former customs boss in the Jabi District of Abuja, saying it was under investigation.

It was reported that the property is a mansion worth N2bn and located at 1 Audu Ogbe Street, Jabi, Abuja
