Amaechi And Wike Redefines Political Gangsterism As Convoys Clashed In Port Harcourt

0

Political gangsterism and intolerance was taken to abysmal and dangerous level yesterday with the senseless bloody clash of the convoys of the Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi and those of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The two leaders took their political differences to the terrain of stupidity and madness unworthy of their positions, with each accusing the other of assassination attempt. The different accounts of what led to the clash by the parties clearly showed none of the is telling us the truth. The fight for political space and relevance in Rivers States is perhaps ugliest in the country with both Wike and Amaechi acting like thugs.

These are friends who became foes because of the quest power and the control of political machinery of Rivers States. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi Media Office in a statement yesterday said, “In a blatant show of naked raw power, Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi this (yesterday) afternoon narrowly escaped being shot by security men attached to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.  His car wasn’t that lucky though. The car was vandalized with a broken side mirror.”

Governor Wike’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, in his reaction, however, claimed that personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) and soldiers attached to the minister of transportation attacked his convoy, while allegedly attempting to assassinate him.

The clash between the convoys at Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout by Nkpogu in Port Harcourt was avoidable if their security details were not compromised, partisan and unprofessional in their conduct. The leaders of both the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party of the minister and the governor respectively had better step on the plate and put to a stop to this shameful show of political gangsterism.

The clash of the convoys was premeditated and planned by one or both parties in a flagrant and unhealthy show of power. The accounts of both parties on why they were at that point at the same time were so feeble and irrational. If Amaechi and Wike are itching for a fight, Nigerians are ready to put the in a ring where they can pummel themselves to stupor. They should stop disturbing us with their shenanigans, we are far impoverished to care about their power tussle.
