With her family by her side, Angela Bassett is finally receiving her flowers, over forty years after making her on-screen acting debut.

Joining her spouse of nearly 26 years, fellow actor Courtney B. Vance, at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday was the “Black Panther” star.

Bronwyn and Slater, the couple’s 17-year-old twins, also made an uncommon appearance on the red carpet.

“I proudly share this honor with women who stand up when they are told to stand back, who speak up when they are silenced, who remain determined when they’re told they’re defeated,” she said.

“These women represent those that I’ve had the honor to portray, as well as the everyday women who surround us and inspire us to keep striving.”

Speaking to People last year, Bassett stated that her kids were by her side as she celebrated her recent career highs, which included winning a 2023 Golden Globe for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

She said, “Whatever they want to do, I support them,” when asked if her twins intended to follow in their mother’s footsteps and pursue jobs in Hollywood. “They want to follow the success, but whether it be acting, I don’t get any clues to that right now.”
