When the members of the House of Representatives from Benue State called on the federal government to designate the herdsmen as terrorists, many Nigerians called them alarmists, but octane of the spate of killings in Benue, Taraba and some other states have been heightened with over 80 people killed.
Fulani militia or herdsmen went on an orgy of killings despite the presence of the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Ibrahim Idris, who is on a three-day official visit to Taraba State, herdsmen on Wednesday evening attacked Jandeikyula village in Wukari Local Government Area of the state, killing at least 25 people.
The herdsmen were also reported to invaded the villages of Kuru-Kuru and Jarkuka in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing at least 26 people.
Benue, which has been the epicenter of the killings was not left out as the Fulani militia killing spree as attacks on attacks on villages in Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas have left close to 60 people killed.
There seems to be no end in sight to these bloodlettings as the government is busy politicking towards 2019 just as state governors are calling on the people to defend themselves and prominent citizens continue to fan the embers of discord. Human life in today’s Nigeria doesn’t worth a penny, or should I say a kobo.
