President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday sought for the National Assembly approval of $75m World Bank loan for Edo State government.
The request was contained in letter addressed to the Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara by the president. Saraki and Doagra read the president letter during yesterday’s plenary of the two chambers.
The loan was the second trench of the $225m dollars loan approved under the 2012-2014 external borrowings.
Buhari was seeking the approval for the second trench of the loan to enable the Edo state government consolidate on the successes recorded in the first trench.
Buhari said based on available information to him, the key programme objectives of loan were already yielding good results in terms of increased influence of private investment to the state.
