Burna Boy is scheduled to perform at the award event, making history as the pioneer Afrobeats performer at the 2024 Grammys.
Nigerian musician Burna Boy has been revealed as one of the major acts at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Being the first-ever Afrobeats performer at the Grammys, the performance is a historic one for the musician.
R&B singer Brandy and rapper 21 Savage are reportedly set to perform live alongside Burna Boy. It is assumed that the group would play “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” a 2023 hit, together at the event. The information about the concert was revealed by Raj Kapoor in a recent edition of Rolling Stone’s Music Now podcast. Additionally, it is revealed that the performance will be creatively directed by Fatimah Robinson, a well-known dancer, music director, and filmmaker who has collaborated with artists like Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson, and most recently, Beyoncé for her RENAISSANCE tour.
Brandy will also be making her stage comeback since the 90s, which is a significant milestone for both Burna Boy and the R&B legend. Burna Boy is up for four Grammys this year – “Sittin’ on Top of the World” for Best Melodic Rap Performance; “I Told Them…” for Best Global Music Album; “Alone” for Best Global Music Performance, and “City Boys” for Best African Music Performance. Burna Boy is now the most nominated Nigerian musician for the 66th Grammy Awards thanks to his four nominations. Twice As Tall, his previous album, won the Grammy for Best Global Music Album in 2021.
