The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has revealed that it will soon start using an electronic platform to conduct it auctions as part of measures to ensure transparency in the sale of seized goods.
It also disclosed that only tax payers with Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) issued Tax Identification Number (TIN) will be eligible to participate in a new auction sales of seized items by the service. This is part of the guidelines contained in a new e-auction portal to be deployed for disposing of seizures that have undergone the process of court condemnation.
The e-auction application would be accessible online through the NCS trade portal website, www.trade.gov.ng, payment of N1,000 non-refundable administrative charges and the inclusion of a copy of a recent passport photograph are the requirements.
All applicants must enter an agreement to abide by the NCS conditions and terms of the auction.
