President Goodluck Jonathan’s security aides expelled the State House correspondent of German Radio Deutsche Welle, Mr Ubale Musa on Monday.
Security operatives attached to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja withdrew Musa’s accreditation tag for asking visiting Chadian President Idris Deby a question the Presidency considered embarrassing.
Musa asked the Chadian president to explain the relationship between the multinational task force fighting in Lake Chad and the South African merceneries fighting with the force.
The operatives, said to have acted on the order “from the above”, later drove Musa in a car out of the forecourt of the president’s office, through the Service Chiefs’ Gate.
But when Musa insisted on retrieving his gadgets and other belongings from the State House Press Gallery, the operatives led him there before leading him out of the Villa.
Our correspondent reports that apart from German Radio Deutsche Welle, other foreign media whose reporters were accredited to cover the State House, alongside their local counterparts, were Reuters, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Associated France Press (AFP), Associated Press (AP), Bloomberg and Radio France.
