Etisalat Nigeria has become history, now it’s 9Mobile. The embattled telecommunication firm announced today the changing of its brand name in compliance with the demand of Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (ETC), the largest shareholder in the company.
Mubadala Group, pulled out of Etisalat Nigeria due to collapse of talks over $1.2billion loan advanced to the firm by a consortium of 13 banks. A new board for the firm was constituted under the supervision of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the affected banks.
Etisalat Nigeria has 21 million subscribers.
