The relationship between Common and Jennifer Hudson, that first surfaced in 2022, is going great.
At the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, June 7, the 42-year-old host of The Jennifer Hudson Show gave PEOPLE an update on their romance two years after it first ignited dating rumours.
Regarding their relationship, Hudson remarked, “Everything is wonderful.” “You only need to know that.”
The “The Light” musician made an appearance on Hudson’s talk programme in January, possibly confirming relationship rumours. Common, 52, gave her a bouquet of flowers and talked to her about his romantic history.
“I’m in a relationship… with one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life,” he said without naming his significant other. “She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down-to-earth about her, she’s talented.”
The rapper also made light of the fact that Hudson had previously won an EGOT and that he wanted his spouse to be an EGOT winner. After saying that she was “very happy” in her relationship, Common asked the Dreamgirls star if he was also happy in his.
“This relationship is a happy place for me,” Common answered. “Seeing her happy actually makes me really happy. So, I’m very grateful. I thank God each and every day, and I’m just letting God guide this relationship.”
Later on, in an interview with Hoda & Jenna on “Today”, the musician talked about the appearance and coming public with the relationship.
“We had a little fun,” Common said of the interview. “I felt like, why not just be loving and honest with who I am and who we are. And it felt good, it was fun, we had a good time.”
The rapper-turned actor added that he’s a “very private” person when it comes to his personal life and “things that are sacred,” but they “had a good time” on Hudson’s show.
After filming their 2024 movie Breathe, the Chicago natives were sighted together in their hometown in 2022, which prompted relationship rumours.
Since that time, they have been seen out and about in New York City holding hands, as well as in Chicago on a date night to see MJ: The Musical and in January, courtside at a Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers game.

The Jennifer Hudson programme is up for four Daytime Emmys this year: outstanding live sound mixing and editing, lighting direction, costume design/styling, and daytime talk programme series.
“It’s a dream,” Hudson told PEOPLE while walking the red carpet. “I feel like we were just here last year. But to be back again? It feels like family and it’s just an honor to be here, just to be recognized and acknowledged and in a room with so much talent and television.”
Hudson continues, saying that she will “have to add another E to my EGOT ring, if I [win].”
