Glasgow company Exsel Group was today (30 March) announced as a sponsor of the 2016 Homeless World Cup, to be held in George Square from 10-16 July.
As part of the agreement Exsel will provide a free to access public Wi-Fi service to ensure the 64 competing teams, their supporters and fans can promote this free event around the world.
The Homeless World Cup is committed to turning George Square into, “the most inspiring place on the planet” aiming to highlight the issue of homelessness, and the opportunity to build better lives.
In total, 64 teams, representing 51 countries, will come together to celebrate and highlight the year round life changing work of the Homeless World Cup National Partner network. 512 players will arrive in Glasgow each with their own story to tell, their own point on their own journey. Up to 100,000 spectators are expected to attend.
Based in Glasgow, Exsel Group specialise in deploying telecom and IT solutions to clients which drive down costs, improve efficiency and boost productivity. With local support, over 200 clients and in-house technology experts Excel were shortlisted for Scottish Business of the year.
This partnership with the Homeless World Cup reflects the companies continued commitment to support community lead activity in its home city of Glasgow.

The 2016 Homeless World Cup is the 14th edition of the tournament. The Homeless World Cup, co-founded by Mel Young, who also co-founded The Big Issue magazine in Scotland, has now supported more than one million people across the globe, engaging 100,000 people annually.
Through each country’s official National Partner, those who are homeless – for which there are dozens of different definitions across the world – have the opportunity to enter transformative programmes from which they can build a brighter life.
