George Weah, Marcel Desailly To Attend Stephen Keshi’s Burial

Former world footballer of the year, George Opong Weah of Liberia and the Ghana-born, former France 1998 World Cup winner, Marcel Desailly, are among some international players who have indicated interest to attend the burial of the late Stephen Keshi.

Reliable sources at the Nigeria Football Federation Secretariat revealed that the players yesterday called the NFF to inquire about the burial arrangements.

“Yes I can reveal to you that one of the renowned African players yesterday called the NFF to know about the burial plans and they have been promised that the details will be communicated to them as soon as it was concluded.”

The federal government is set to constitute a burial committee, as part of arrangements to give the late former Super Eagles Coach a befitting burial,

General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi revealed to reporters on Tuesday that the committee will have representations from the federal government, the NFF as well as Delta and Edo states.

The general secretary further revealed that according to the preliminary plans, the burial will take place by the last week of July.

The committee is expected to be made public before the end of next week.
