Three of his nominations are for his hit, Earned It, which featured on the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack.

British singer Ed Sheeran also performed well with multiple nods with three nods, with Best Record, Song and Solo Pop, receiving a fourth mention for writing on The Weeknd’s album.

He tweeted his glee on Monday shortly after, in typical coy fashion, writing: ‘I wasn’t expecting the Grammy noms, thank you.

Rapper Drake was nominated for Best Rap performance, Best Rap Song and Best Rap album.
