Immigration Suspends Two Officers Involved In Human Tracking

0

Now we know why the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria has yielded no result, its because the agencies of government responsible to curb it are culpable as two officers with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) were arrested on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos while illegally trying to transit six underaged girls out of the country to Oman and Kuwait.

The two officers were identified as Aroyinbo Oluwadare (SII) and Awosanmi Taiwo Gabriel (IA1) have been suspended and a full investigation has been instituted.

The NIS through its spokesman, Mr. Sunday James issued a statement on the suspension of the culprits.

“The suspension is to allow for detailed investigation into the issue with a view to unravelling their level of culpability and indeed other syndicates involved in the act.

“The Comptroller General, therefore, assures the public of management’s commitment to the eradication of smuggling of migrants and trafficking of person activities in the country.”
