Lagos State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, approved a total of N489.690 billion to be spent by the state government in 2015, with the breakdown showing a recurrent expenditure of N241.977 billion and N247.713 billion for capital expenditure.
The assembly gave the approval at its sitting presided over by the speaker, Honourable Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who assured that no section of the state would suffer neglect if the budget was well implemented.
Giving a breakdown of the budget at the Committee of Supply, of which the speaker is the chairman, Ikuforiji announced that of the grand total, a sum of N113,300,021,622 is for personnel; N128,676,616,765 for overhead and N247,713,231,234 for capital.
The assembly, in the approval, allocated a lion share of N72.250 billion to Works and Infrastructure ministry, followed by education with N52.09 billion.
A total sum of N22.76 was approved for Environment; N32.4 billion for Health; N28.67 billion for Housing; N2.4 billion for Information and Strategy; N2.17 billion for Agriculture; N21.4 billion for Commerce and Industry; N3.94illion for Transportation, Science and Technology and N3.44 billion for the Judiciary.
The state House of Assembly also got N8.73 billion.
Speaking after passage of the budget bill into law, the speaker, while commending the various committees of the assembly, particularly the Appropriation Committee headed by Honourable Mudashiru Obasa, said this would be the 10th budget bill he would preside over and the last of its kind.
