Lagos Celebrates Ogo Yoruba Award (OYA) 2016

The event, Ogo Yoruba Award (OYA), 2016, was held last Sunday, 26th June, at The White house hotel and event centre on Toyin street, Ikeja, Lagos.

The ceremony kicked off with a colourful red carpet at about 4pm, and extended till about 7:30pm. The event was formally thrown open, with the Nigerian national anthem, and was later introduced by MC Kirikiri, who ushered in, the convener, Wale Adeoba, who eventually, gave a very impressive opening speech on the ideologies, and the reasons for the awards, which include; Honouring Music, Movie, Technical and Academic personalities, who have been outstanding, in portraying and projecting Yoruba culture, tradition, and yorubas, who have have excelled in their various fields of endeavours.

 The winners were chosen through popular opinion poll. The event was well-attended by celebrities, captains of industries, members of the press\media practitioners, to mention a few.

Ogo Yoruba Award (OYA), a concept of Wale Adeoba Productions Inc, is a special exclusive annual event arranged to unite and amplify Nigerians irrespective of tribe, Yoruba stars and individuals alike, create fun, glamour and reward by honouring creativity and exemplary individual talents basically related to Yoruba tradition and culture in Nigeria and abroad by promoting the people that have secured high perception for Yoruba heritage in their respective talents and professions.

The event was co-packaged by Kanbitoons company. However, among the special guests of honour present were; Dr Taiwo Ayodeji (GMD TEEMARK GROUP), Olumuyiwa Akiboye (A Veteran Media Practitioner), Said Balogun,(A Veteran Actor) , and of course the Awardees…” Meet The Award Recipients @ OYA 2016.
