The Homeless World Cup is excited to announce Colin Farrell as its newest Ambassador. A long-time supporter of the organization, the award-winning actor encourages his fans to get involved with the street soccer movement.

Farrell is well known around the globe for his roles in films such as In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths. He will also be starring in the second season of HBO’s multi-award winning series True Detective.

Farrell first got involved with the Homeless World Cup in 2008, when he narrated the documentary Kicking It, which follows six players on their way to the 2006 Homeless World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.

In his role as Homeless World Cup Ambassador, Farrell wants to show his millions of fans the power of football to change lives for the better. Through the Supporters Club, the Homeless World Cup team hopes to harness the power of their global fan base.

Speaking of his appointment, Farrell said: “I have seen how the Homeless World Cup really does inspire homeless people to change the direction of their lives. The best of all is that everyone can now take part in the action, by joining me in the Homeless World Cup Supporters Club. I encourage fans all around the world to get involved. Change is a team effort!”

Homeless World Cup President Mel Young said: “To have people with an authentic voice is very, very important. Colin Farrell is one of these authentic voices. His support will help us in many ways, and crucially, it will enable us to reach more homeless people.”

Farrell joins a team of Homeless World Cup Ambassadors, including French football legend Emmanuel Petit and bestselling author Irvine Welsh.
