A former Lagos State President, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Chief Yomi Otubela, has said that the South-West chapter of the association will commence a unified promotion examination next year.
He said this on Thursday at a seminar for teachers and school owners to herald the annual Unified Examination for Private Schools scheduled for July.
According to Otubela, the unified examination, which is in its second year, has served as a pilot study to assess the possibility of such a development in the South-West.
“As from next year, the unified examination will be used as promotional examination in the third term for all member-schools. Parents will get value for their money and the standard of education particularly in the private sector will improve.
“We are building on our achievements last year. Registration was done manually last year but we now have a portal through which registration and release of results will be done. This seminar is also to build the capacity of teachers and school owners on the issue of role specification. We want to make sure that all the errors associated with the shading of the computer sheets last year are corrected,” he said.
New executives of the association were also inaugurated at the event while parents and other NAPPS partners were given awards.
The new Lagos State President, Alhaji Kamal Akande, commended the immediate past executives for their commitment. He stated that his administration would focus on career seminars and help pupils to comprehend Mathematics and English Language better.
“It is a known fact that the two key subjects still remain a nightmare to most of our pupils. Hence, our administration will introduce a comprehensive Mathematics Improvement Programme. We shall also be having Spelling Bee Competition among member-schools,” he said.
