Streaming giant, Netflix, has revealed that the much-anticipated Gala Event, titled “Lights, Camera…Naija,” would be hosted by Nigerian comedian and entertainer Basketmouth.
The exclusive event is slated to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, on August 13, 2023. Netflix intends to honour Nollywood’s wealth of talent and highlight the sector’s exciting potential during this event.
Undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s top comedians, Basketmouth has an incredible 25-year professional career. His internationally renowned stand-up comedy spectacular, Basketmouth Uncensored, has performed on important stages both domestically and abroad. He has demonstrated his versatility as a performer beyond humour, with credentials in production, acting, and even a successful music career.
According to Netflix, the occasion was a chance to honour Nigerian artists who have contributed to the expansion of the sector.

With a professional career spanning 25 years and his signature stand-up comedy special, BasketMouth Uncensored, touring the biggest venues domestically and internationally, BasketMouth is arguably one of Nigeria’s top comedians.
Netflix provided an explanation for the selection of BasketMouth as the event host on Monday, describing him as a multi-talented performer with a distinguished resume that includes numerous producing and acting credentials in addition to an active music career.
“BasketMouth is most known for his wit and spontaneity, and with him at the helm of affairs, Lights, Camera…Naija is set to be a night to remember,” the statement read.
