A member of Nicki Minaj’s concert tour team was stabbed to death in a bar fight in Philadelphia early Wednesday, the New York Daily News reported. A second staffer was in critical condition with stab wounds, but is expected to survive, police told the newspaper.
News of the brawl came when the “Anaconda” singer posted an item on Twitter. “Two members of my team were stabbed last night in Philly,” Minaj tweeted. “One was killed. They had only been there for two days rehearsing for the tour.
She also posted about the fight on Instagram. “Unbelievable,” she captioned a photo of the two road crew members men on Instagram. “Another senseless act of violence that took the life of a great guy. So sad.”
Minaj did not say if she was at the bar when the fight broke out. TMZ identified the slain main as De’Von Pickett, the New York Daily News said. He was said to be a stage hand for Minaj. The critically injured staffer was identified as Eric Parker.
Police told the Daily News the melee started at Che Bar & Grill in Philadelphia around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, and eventually spread into the street. It was not reported what prompted the brawl.
Police told the Daily News an unidentified man allegedly pulled a knife and fatally slashed Pickett, 29, and injured Parker, 26, who reportedly had multiple stab wounds to his side, police said.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been apprehended, police said.
