The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is set to embark on an anti- corruption rally in Abuja tomorrow to lend its support to the ongoing anti-corruption war by the present administration.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Abuja yesterday, NLC president, comrade Ayuba Wabba said the anti-corruption rally would involve labour union members across the country.
Wabba called on President Buhari to ensure that all funds illegally taken from the treasury were recovered, kept in a special account and appropriated for job creation, funding of educational infrastructure and upgrading of health-care infrastructure. He also called for the establishment of special anti-corruption courts to try graft cases in the country, saying treasury looters have become skillful at using loopholes in the procedure of regular court to delay and subvert justice. Wabba also said that all public officers whether elected or appointed must publicly declare their assets and liabilities upon assumption of office to boost the anti-corruption efforts stressing that there was an urgent need to review and strengthen anti-graft legislations.
