The All Progressive Congress’ Godwin Obaseki was earlier today sworn in as the Governor of Edo State taking over from Adams Oshiomhole who has finished serving his two terms of four years. The sworn in ceremony took place amid tight security.
The Chief Judge of Edo state, administered the oath first on Mr. Philip Shuaibu, the Deputy after which Obaseki was sworn in.
After the swearing-in exercise, the new Governor went ahead to perform his first function as Edo State Chief Executive by inspecting the inauguration parade in a motorcade after which he presented his inaugural address.
The new governor promised to do his best in taking the state to the next level. The inauguration ceremony was attended by top dignitaries including the outgoing governor, Adams Oshiomhole and his wife, the National Chairman of the APC, John Oyegun, some former and serving governors.
The new Governor attended the University of Ibadan, as well as the Colombia University in the United States.
