Is it naivety or plain stupidity? How on earth can people just obey their Pastors or Imams without pondering about the consequences of their actions? Would you drink disinfectant if your pastor says so? This is exactly what happened in South Africa?

A South African man of God, Prophet Rufus Phala has caused serious talking point on the social media after he was seen giving a bottle of disinfectant to a church member to drink claiming it has divine healing powers.

Prophet Phala who is the General Overseer of AK Spiritual Christian Church in Makgodu, Limpopo, according to Daily Sun SA, has been coming up with bizarre methods of conducting healing miracles with this being the latest in line.

It was gathered that Prophet Phala made his church members drink the disinfectant during a church service on Sunday, December 5, 2016, after he reportedly told them that the antiseptic liquid would heal every form of ailment afflicting them.

“I know Dettol is harmful, but God instructed me to use it. I was the first one to drink it,” he reportedly claimed.

He also claimed he has been getting WhatsApp messages from people who confirmed they have been healed after drinking the disinfectant. This is coming few weeks after another pastor used insecticide on his church members.

Faith must never be equated stupidity and these pastors with dangerous and unconventional healing methods must be called order.
